Hey, I'm Ruth!

I have loved traveling my whole life. During high school I took an extra class in entrepreneurship, during which I started a small company selling can openers with a group of students. I initially only took the class because of the trip to Shanghai that came with it, but during the class I first learned about what it takes to run a business and realized I really enjoyed it. I took the role of managing the finances of our small company, including setting up the system in which we sold shares. We ended up making a decent amount of profit that partly paid for our trip!

After I graduated from high school in the Netherlands, I wanted to live abroad and understand more of the world. I decided to take a gap year in which I lived with a host family in Wisconsin, US, and went to an American high school for a year. I enjoyed every moment of it and learned more about different cultures and places.

Because of my interest for the business world and my liking of traveling and different cultures, I chose to study International Business at the Hague University of Applied Sciences. I took a minor in Sustainable Business and did my specialization in Finance & Accounting. I went to study abroad for a semester at Swansea University in Swansea, Wales, in which I mostly took entrepreneurship courses. And I did an internship in Finance & Management at an Urban Designer office. In June of 2023 I successfully graduated my International Business bachelor's degree.

I have had a variety of jobs during high school and university, including jobs in restaurants and cafés, but also working in logistics of an Emergency Centre for Dutch tourists abroad and as a Sales Development Representative Educational Software company.

I recently wanted to expand my hobbies and skillset and started to learn the basics of programming. This website is my first project.
